World Comedy Expo Stand Up Comedy
March 25, 2022 @ 9:00 PM
- Abi Sanchez (Chicago, IL) — Host
A fixture of Chicago’s burgeoning comedy scene, Abi’s unique perspectives on the nuance of daily life, combined with his deadpan delivery and relatable content have quickly cemented him as a favorite among audiences and producers.
- Jon Torres (Chicago, IL)
Jon Torres is a stand up comedian, podcaster and producer of Don’t Tell Comedy Chicago. His comedy has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, The Sun Times and WGN Chicago news. Jon’s act is observational in the way that he questions everything he sees to the point of whether or not people understand how trivial and upsetting their behaviors are to others and has previously worked with names such as Jesus Trejo, Ian Karmel, Shane Torres, and Liza Treyger.
- Pedja Bajović (Zagreb, Croatia)
One of the founders of the post-Yugoslav stand up comedy circuit and internationally most active comedian from the Balkans region. Since 2005 he performed in 30 different countries, had numerous TV appearances on the regional TV channels (Comedy Central Extra, HA HA, LOL) and participated in the international comedy competitions such as one in Seattle (2012) or Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person in the World (2016). His special The Balkan Brain is currently distributed by Comedy Dynamics.
- Erica Switzer (Chicago, IL)
Chicago’s Erica Switzer thrills crowds with her unique energy and raw wit. She has supported pro comedians including Simeon Goodson, Mateen Stewart, and Justin Rivera. Co-founder of Shanghai’s Blackout Comedy and Founder of Hei Now Comedy, China’s premier Black comedy crew, and the 1st Black comedian to perform in Mongolia (Silk Road International Comedy Festival July 2019). 2020: Flappers Soup-or-Bowl winner, NY Underground Comedy Festival. 2021: WSOC, Burbank Comedy Festival Best of Fest.
- Tony Loud (Brooklyn, NY)
This Brooklyn native was raised by a Puerto Rican mother. As the “class mayor” as mom would put it, I have captivated an audience since grade school. It’s been 5 years of being a professional stand up and I look forward to more festivals and traveling to other areas around the country making audiences laugh. I have been lucky enough to perform at Stand Up New York, Broadway Comedy club and Caroline’s on Broadway.
- Nina Kern (Chicago, IL)
Nina (9-uh) Kern is a Chicago based comedian and actor. You can find Nina on stages all across Chicago, including Laugh Factory, Zanies, and Comedy Bar. Nina has also been featured in multiple webseries, commercials, and on Adult Swim. Nina’s comedy ranges on topics from the mundane to the insane, and shows what it means to be a modern woman. If you want to see more from Nina, follow her on Instagram and TikTok @iamninakern.
- Ibrahim Khalif (Newark, NJ)
Ibrahim Khalif is a NYC comedian and podcaster. Originally from Newark, NJ, Ibrahim adopted his thoughtfully abrasive sense of humor while growing up in several Newark housing projects at the height of the crack epidemic. In his career Ibrahim crafted his act in the peripheral doldrums of the NYC comedy scene, but has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the best comedians in the industry. Ibrahim released his comedy album “Placebo” that debuted #1 on iTunes comedy charts.
- Karthik Lavangu (New York, NY)
Karthik Lavangu is an Indian-born stand up comedian based in New York City. Karthik’s Mom describes him as “the funniest person I know who also happens to be my son,” while his Dad can’t wrap his head around why his son does comedy instead of using his engineering and Master’s degrees. Karthik did a residency at Broadway Comedy Club in NYC and performed in a number of comedy festivals in the US – most recently seen at SF sketchfest, in January 2022!
